likeness that I ever approved of. This represents exactly what
he was up to at the time of his marriage, when he ceased to live
in his own family. After my brother's death, I had two copies
taken, one for Mr Carlyle, the other for an old family friend
who, at his death, consigned it to some Provincial Gallery (probably
Norwich). As far as I know, there would be no other copies; and
