National Portrait Gallery Stamp Issue
To celebrate the National
Portrait Gallery's 150th Anniversary, Royal Mail is issuing a
set of ten Special Stamps, featuring ten portraits from the Gallery's
Collection. These miniature 'works of art' are reproductions
of portraits in a variety of media, from Sir Joshua Reynolds'
fine self-portrait painting and the haunting photograph of Virginia
Woolf by Beresford, to a beautifully sculptured bust of Sir Walter
Scott by Sir Francis Chantrey. |
|
You can buy this issue of stamps
as a personalised First Day Cover, as Mint Stamps and Stamp Postcards.
Presentation Packs, too, bring these Special Stamps to life -
each pack contains a full set of Mint Stamps in a protective
cover, together with a fascinating history of the National Portrait
Gallery, including charming photography of the Gallery.
The stamps will be released on
18th July 2006 and if you'd like to collect these 'works of art'
in miniature, just go to www.royalmail.com/npgweb,
or call 08457 641 641. With every order you'll also get
25% off printing your own portrait on canvas and the chance to
win £75 to spend with canvasRus.com. Royal Mail have also
teamed up with the Telegraph to offer readers a chance to win
a personal portrait by David Bailey. Click here
to find out more including Terms & Conditions. Stamp products
will also be available in the National Portrait Gallery shop.
