Clear Vision: Brockhurst, Frampton and Kelly

Until 8 July 2007
Room 33

Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother
by Sir Gerald Kelly, circa 1938

This display brings together three fascinating portraitists: Gerald Brockhurst, Meredith Frampton and Gerald Kelly. Each achieved distinction in the 1930s. Collectively their work demonstrates a shared sensibility which emphasises the physical presence of the sitter: closely observed and rendered with a clear, meticulous realism.
