Peter Ackroyd: Shakespeare and London
The acclaimed novelist
and biographer Peter Ackroyd has written imaginatively
convincing biographies of T.S.Eliot, Dickens, Blake and Thomas
More. He hasrecently published a new biography of William Shakespeare.
To mark the occasion of Shakespeare 's birthday, Ackroyd
talks about the playwright and London.

with an ensemble of young artists in Shakespeare & Love,

'All the world's a stage' - As
You Like It Act II, scene VII
To celebrate Shakespeare's Birthday
any visitor who comes to the National Portrait Gallery on Sunday
23 April 2006 in period Shakespearean costume will be able to
visit Searching for Shakespeare for free.
The exhibition offers an intriguing
insight into the life and times of the world's most famous playwright.
Bringing together a unique collection of portraits and objects
including the original parish register recording Shakespeare's
baptism in 1564.
So put on your petticoat, don
your ruff and get into your doublet and hose!
Offer only valid for those in costume - so encourage your friends
to dress up to.
