During the early 1960s, the advent of pop music, youth culture, technological innovation and the exploration of space all contributed to an optimistic feeling that a new age had dawned. Pop Art reflected these changes with new kinds of portraiture, which addressed issues of fame and the changing condition of people in a media-dominated consumer society. The works shown in this section focus on portraits connected with space travel, fashion, pop music and the pace of modern life.
