Changing Impressions: A Print Conservation Project in Focus

Conservation is a highly skilled discipline and should only be undertaken by a trained specialist. Icon, the Institute of Conservation maintains the Conservation Register which private owners may use to find a practising conservator.

The Conservation Register holds detailed information on conservation businesses from across the UK and Ireland and can be searched by the type of object (e.g. prints, watercolours, furniture, oil paintings, tapestry) and geographical location. The information is available free of charge online at www.conservationregister.com or by telephone, +44(0)20 7785 3804. Each business included in the Conservation Register has been required to meet rigorous criteria which include professional accreditation. The website also provides information to help owners choose a conservator, as well as guidance on caring for their own possessions and collections.
