Michael Jagger was born in Dartford and educated at Dartford Grammar School and the London School of Economics. Jagger formed the rock and roll band The Rolling Stones in 1962 with Keith Richards and Brian Jones. Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts joined soon after. They had their first chart hit with Come On in July 1963, the first of 15 hit singles in the 1960s. Jagger began the 1970s with solo roles in the films Performance and Ned Kelly and hits with The Stones included Brown Sugar (1971) and It's Only Rock and Roll (1974). He was created a Knight in 2002 for services to popular music.
