Audrey Hepburn greetings card
Belgian-born actress Audrey Hepburn trained as a ballet dancer in Amsterdam and made her London stage debut in 1948 in the chorus for High Button Shoes. She made her first appearance on Broadway in Gigi in 1951. This led to her being cast opposite Gregory peck in the film Roman Holiday (1953), for which she won an Academy Award. Hepburn became known for her grace, charm and pencil-slim looks in films such as Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) and My Fair Lady (1964). From the late 1960s she increasingly devoted her time to her family and, from the 1980s, to work as a UNICEF ambassador. This photograph was taken at the Bassano studios in the year before Hepburn made her first appearance in an English-language film.
