The Who greetings card
Formed in 1964, the British rock band The Who was one of the most popular and influential of the 1960s and 1970s. Their albums include My Generation (1965), Tommy (1969) - a rock opera that included the hit single Pinball Wizard - and the concept album Quadrophenia (1979), which was the basis for a film. This photograph from the 1966 shows The Who's principal members during the band's early 'Mod' phase: from left to right, Keith Moon (drums), Pete Townshend (foreground; guitar), John Entwistle (bass guitar) and Roger Daltrey (vocals). It was taken by Colin Jones, who had started his photographic career in 1962, having previously trained as a dancer with the Royal Ballet.
