In 2012 the Travel Award was won by Carl Randall for his proposal to travel along the Tokaido Highway between Tokyo to Kyoto in the footsteps of Japanese woodblock print artist Ando Hiroshige (1797-1858). On route he recorded the people, their livelihoods and the landscape as he finds them today in contrast to what was portrayed by Hiroshige.

Scholarships include The Daiwa Anglo Japanese Foundation and MEXT Scholarships to study in Japan.

He has exhibited and sold with various galleries in the UK and internationally – The Royal Academy of Arts, The Jerwood Gallery, The Mall Galleries; Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Arts, Tokyo Art Award; Art Volta, Basel, Switzerland; and Art Taipei, Taiwan.
