Launched in 2012 the Portrait Circle is a high level supporter group for those who are most deeply inspired by the National Portrait Gallery’s work and want to support and shape its future endeavours. Through the Portrait Circle, members will enjoy a closer association with the Gallery and will gain a deeper insight into our plans, aims and ambitions.

In recognition of their valued contribution to the life and work of the Gallery, members of the Portrait Circle will enjoy special opportunities tailored to their specific areas of interest.

Each year Portrait Circle members will be invited to an event with Gallery Directors, Trustees and selected artists. This celebratory evening will enable us to thank our closest supporters, mark achievements and share the Gallery’s plans for the coming year.

Portrait Circle members will be credited in the Gallery’s Biennial Review and on the Gallery’s Donor Board and may chose to enjoy exclusive opportunities such as:

  • Exhibition installation tours
  • Private visits to artist's studios
  • Invitations to attend the unveiling of new works
  • Private tours with the Director and Chief Curator
  • Out of hours Gallery visits
  • Behind the scenes access to the Heinz Archive and Library
  • A visit to the Gallery’s store

From £15,000* per year, with a minimum commitment of three consecutive years
