The National Portrait Gallery is all about people. From Henry VIII
to Kate Moss you can meet the men and women who shaped British history
and culture. The Collection begins in the early sixteenth-century with
the great Tudor courts and continues through to contemporary displays,
which reflect the diversity, inventiveness and multi-culturalism of
modern day Britain.
Artists featured range from Holbein to
Hockney and the Collection includes work across all media, from
painting and sculpture to photography and video. As well as the
permanent displays, the Gallery has a diverse programme of exhibitions
and events and a stunning rooftop restaurant and bar with spectacular
views across the London skyline.
