Inspired by Bailey

“I try to simplify things by just having a white background and no distractions. I don’t care about ‘composition’ or anything like that. I just want the emotion of the person in the picture to come across” David Bailey

During the course of Bailey’s Stardust we have been asking visitors to send us their best Instagram portraits inspired by the exhibition and David Bailey’s photography.

Three winners were selected by photographer Mark Pattenden, who works alongside David Bailey, and Sandy Nairne, Director of the National Portrait Gallery. Congratulations to Andrew Green, Christina Smalley and Kurtiss Lloyd whose winning images go on display at the Gallery outside the Ondaatje Wing Theatre until Sunday 1 June 2014.

Visit the National Portrait Gallery’s Instagram page and see all submissions to the competition by searching #InspiredByBailey.
