The BP Portrait Award 2015 awards ceremony took place on Tuesday 16 June 2015.

A new entry procedure and judging process was introduced for this year’s competition. For the first time artists entered the Award by submitting a digital image of their work. 456 works were selected for a second stage of judging where the original paintings were viewed and the exhibition selection made.
This year’s judges were:
Pim Baxter, Deputy Director, National Portrait Gallery (Chair)
Sarah Howgate, Contemporary Curator, National Portrait Gallery
Kim Mawhinney, Head of Art, National Museums Northern Ireland
Peter Monkman, Artist and winner of the BP Portrait Award 2009
Simon Schama, Historian
Des Violaris, Director, UK Arts & Culture, BP
The Travel Award 2015 winner was selected by Sarah Howgate, Peter Monkman and Des Violaris.
