William Woodfall (1746-1803), published 1792

The first parliamentary reporter. In 1774 Woodfall was employed as printer and editor of the Morning Chronicle, a position which he occupied until 1789. He then established the Diary which consisted of a detailed report on each day's parliamentary debates; a process aided by his remarkable and noted memory.

This is one of the earliest etchings by Robert Dighton, it shows an able draughtsmanship and delicate colouring.
