Simmons began her professional career as a dancer. After early notable acting performances in Britain for David Lean, and Lawrence Olivier she made the journey to Hollywood. Here she starred alongside many of Hollywoods leading men of the time, including Marlon Brando, Kirk Douglas, and Robert Mitchum. She became one of the most loved English actresses of her generation.
