Arguably the three most important gentlemen in the development of the railways and engineering designs of bridges, tunnels and engines, this talk will focus on Robert Stephenson (1803 – 1859), Isambard Kingdom Brunel (1806 – 1859) and Sir Daniel Gooch (1816 – 1889).
Come along to this introduction on their careers, engineering feats and their relationships. The steam engines, railways and engineered structures of this period have changed the landscape of Britain and the world. You don't have to be a railway enthusiast to enjoy this talk; it encompasses information about the Victorians, their values and aims which are embodied in the
lives of these three gentlemen.
