Inspired by the current display, Beatrice Behlen illuminates this star of the Edwardian stage.

Gertie Millar was one of the most well-loved and photographed stars of the Edwardian stage. Beatrice Behlen will reveal the contents of a little-known photographic album showing the actress dressed in high fashion as well as the costumes of some of her stage characters. She will also discuss the involvement of fashion designers in theatrical production as well as the influence of the theatre on fashionable dress.

Beatrice Behlen co-curated this display and is the Senior Curator of Fashion & Decorative Arts at the Museum of London.
