Simon Weston joined the Welsh Guards in 1978 and was deployed abroad when hostilities broke out between Britain and Argentina over the Falklands Islands. Simon Weston was aboard RFA Sir Galahad when it came under fire and sustained 46% burns across his face and body. The dignity and courage that Simon has displayed in learning to live with his injuries and to raise awareness to help others are reason enough why he has become the People’s choice for a portrait in the gallery. Talk led by Paul Johnson.
