Jazz club owner and Saxophonist. Scott started playing professionally aged sixteen, and joined the Ted Heath orchestra in 1946. He co-founded the jazz group Club Eleven (1949 –1950) and the influential quintet Jazz Couriers (1957-9). In 1959, Scott opened his own club ‘Ronnie Scott’s’, which is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary. Scott was appointed OBE for his services to music in 1981.

Jazz singer, art historian, and critic. Melly sang with Mick Mulligan’s Magnolia Jazz Band (1946-61) and John Chilton’s Feetwarmers (1974-2003). From 1973, Melly’s Christmas residency at ‘Ronnie Scott’s’ became a tradition which lasted for almost 30 years.

South-African born Edelstein moved to London in 1985 and has worked as a freelance photographer since 1986. The National Portrait Gallery holds over ninety of Edelstein’s photographs, twenty of which were recently shown in the display Jillian Edelstein: In Focus (February – April 2009).
