The Great War had a tremendous impact on life in the 20th century. Political, technological and social changes led the world into modernity. Women gained more independence, technology developed, and the painful loss of millions drove the surviving people into a frenetic aim to forget and have fun. Jazz, cocktails, lipstick, shampoo, nylon stockings and short skirts became symbols of a modern life. This talk will analyse how fashion expressed the changes that WW1 brought to the world. Talk led by Estela Mendes.
