2017 is the eighth year of BP Portrait Award: Next Generation, engaging thousands of young people aged 14-21-years-old with BP Portrait Award-winning artists and painted portraiture. All events are free, and all materials provided

Young People’s Private View, Tues 8 August 18.30 – 20.30

The Gallery is yours for the evening. Enjoy the BP Portrait Award 2017 after-hours with drawing, artists, talks, refreshments, competitions, music from young talent and more. Hosted by the Gallery’s Youth Forum, and open to 14-21-year-olds only.

Taster Sessions

Pick up a Pencil: Drop-in drawing

Join the Gallery’s Youth Forum and a special guest BP Portrait Award artist  for fun, social drawing in the Gallery spaces. For all abilities, come along when you wish and no need to book.

Three-day Summer Schools

Monday 14 – Wednesday 16 August OR Monday 21 – Wednesday 23 August 11.00 – 16.30

Applications will be open on 09.00 Thursday 22 June and close 12.00  Wednesday 9 August 2017. The application form will be available on 22 June.

The Gallery is yours for the evening. Enjoy the BP Portrait Award 2017 after-hours with artists, gallery talks, drawing, music, competitions and refreshments, all hosted by the Gallery's Youth Forum.

Featuring live performances by singer/songwriter Murdo Mitchell and fusion jazz musician William Adam Chongo Doran, as well as vinyl DJ sets by Aliyah Otchere.

Talk and draw with guest BP Portrait Award artists including 2016 winner Clara Drummond and 22-year-old exhibitor Khushna Sulaman-Butt.

Participate in creative competitions, enjoy a special, youth-selected menu with 'mocktails', and take home goody bags supplied by our friends at Cass Art.

SUMMER SCHOOLS

Monday 14 – Wednesday 16 August OR Monday 21 – Wednesday 23 August 11.00 – 16.30

Work with BP Portrait Award-winning artists to creatively explore portrait painting over three days. With a showcase event on Day 3.
