Between the mid- 1950s and mid-1960s, English culture changed rapidly and fundamentally. Professor Alex Seago examines the edgy and exciting cultural milieu within which David Bailey's early career developed.

Dr. Alex Seago is Dean of Communications, Arts and Social Sciences at Richmond, The American International University in London. His research focuses on cultural change in Britain in the 1950s and 1960s - with particular reference to art, design and music. He is the author of 'Burning the Box of Beautiful Things' (Oxford University Press) - an examination of cultural change at the Royal College of Art between 1950-1965.
