“Is it not remarkable how a couple of psyches can inhabit the same body? Have you ever noticed that?”

Each of Lewis’s self portraits presents a different ‘Wyndham Lewis’. He presented a variety of personas to the public, and was capable of seemingly endless reinventions of his public self. Combined, these self- portraits show that Lewis was clearly an exhibitionist whose own ‘image’ was integral to his art and whose artistic style was as varied as his public personas.
