How can I see a portrait not on display?
The National Portrait Gallery is currently closed due to our major redevelopment project, Inspiring People, which will see a transformed Gallery re-opening in 2023.
The Heinz Archive & Library is currently closed as a precautionary measure to help contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). We are unable to accommodate physical visits for the time being.
In the meantime, you can access over 150,000 images and explore fascinating content online. We hope to be able to reopen appointment bookings to view works not on display again soon.
