The extensive restoration on the right-hand side is visible in the image taken in ultra violet light on the right as dark patches over the varnish. Extensive damage and paint loss is also visible in the costume and background in the central x-ray. A change in the right side of the hat is evident in this image; most of the hat appears dark in x-ray but there is a lighter area where the lower edge of the hat has been extended down from the eyebrow level in order to end next to the eye.
