The good condition of the face is evident in the image taken in ultra violet light on the right, with retouching confined to the background and costume. The x-ray in the centre also shows the panel's good condition and the fine brushstrokes, particularly around the cheeks, that model the flesh. As expected from a copy, there do not appear to be any pentimenti. Several seals on the reverse are clearly visible in the x-ray, as well as strips of patterned paper that have been attached to canvas pieces on the reverse.
