The x-ray in the centre and the image taken in ultra violet light on the right reveal the structural changes that have been made to this painting. The panel was originally constructed with three vertical boards but much of the left board is missing and has been replaced with modern oak. The balsa wood blocks that have been attached to the back of the painting to support the structure are clearly visible in the x-ray, whilst the differentiation between the modern paint addition and the original surface is evident in the ultra violet image.
