The Swan Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company

The Gallery is lending the only portrait of William Shakespeare that has a good claim to have been painted from life for the opening this new permanent exhibition at the Royal Shakespeare Company. The ‘Chandos portrait’ will be displayed (until 18 December 2016) in The Play’s The Thing, which opens at the Swan Theatre on 22 October 2016 and continues until 11 February 2017.
