Portraits of Writers - Hay Castle
Past national and international programme archive
27 May - 31 August 2022
This display, selected from the Collection of the National Portrait Gallery by guest curator, author and journalist, Dylan Jones, brings together portraits of celebrated British individuals, who identify as writers. The exhibition presents methods and approaches used by artists to capture the complex identities of writers, including gender identity, sexuality, race, ethnicity, national and regional identity, migration and colonisation.
The display has been created as part of the Gallery’s transformational Inspiring People project, which includes an extensive programme of nationwide activities, funded by The National Heritage Lottery Fund and Art Fund.
