Filming

The National Portrait Gallery welcomes professional filmmakers.

The Gallery is a sought-after location, with a range of interesting and beautiful spaces to offer, including the rooftop Portrait Restaurant, where panoramic windows look out over Trafalgar Square and Whitehall.

The Gallery’s many and varied rooms of portraits on display offer vivid settings for discussions of British history, as well as providing authoritative illustrations of key figures from the past 500 years.

If you would like to film at the Gallery, please contact the Rights & Images team to discuss details of your proposed project.

It is important to make firm arrangements in advance, so we can work around the Gallery’s busy schedule to help you achieve your creative goals.

Charges will vary according to your project requirements.
