Letter from Robert Browning to George Frederic Watts, dated 12 July 1889, thanking the artist for the 'beautiful photograph'.

My dear Watts,
How good and kind of you to give me this beautiful photograph! Surely nothing better in its way was ever produced - so far as my experience goes. Thank you must truly. I wish I - or my sister - had been at home when you called with Mrs Watts: we should have greatly valued your visit. I shall venture to call on you and see you both, if I may be so privileged. Meantime and ever believe me, dear Watts.

Yours gratefully and affectionately
Robert Browning
