Grenvillites
The Grenvillites were a political consortium active in the Houses of Lords and Commons until 1829, led by various members of the Grenville family, and populated by their relations and supporters. They would become known as an oppositional political faction from 1801, when large numbers of Pitt's followers (Pitt himself was a first cousin of the Grenvilles) broke with the government over Catholic emancipation, a popular Grenvillite cause. Despite the more moderate leadership style of William Wyndham Grenville (the second Grenville prime minister), the group remained known for its place-seeking and title-grabbing politics, which would eventually lead to its dissolution, as they faced extreme mistrust and derision in parliament.
