Nobel Prize Laureates

The Nobel Prize is a set of international awards, presented annually to individuals by committees in Sweden and Norway. Established by the chemist and engineer Alfred Bernhard Nobel in 1895, the prize is awarded to those recognised for making advancements in the fields of Chemistry, Physics, literature and Peace. Since 1968, the central bank of Sweden has also awarded the prize for economic sciences. Each recipient of the award receives a gold medal, a monetary award and a diploma. 6 Nobel Prize Laureates have received the award twice, including the Biochemist Frederick Sanger. Marie Curie was the first female Laureate and received the award in both categories of physics and chemistry.
