John Fisher

(1469-1535), Bishop of Rochester, cardinal and martyr

Sitter associated with 34 portraits
John Fisher became Bishop of Rochester in 1504. He opposed church reform, refused to recognise Henry VIII as head of the Church of England, and was beheaded. He was canonised in 1935.
