Hello,
I think this may be someone that I am researching for my family tree. He died in 1795 and married Charlotte Montagu and then Frances Carter. His brother in law was George Preston, also a general and his predecessor as Colonel in Chief of the Royal Scots Greys (2nd Dragoons). I am looking for a portrait of George and James, as several of their their colleagues, family and friends were painted by Reynolds. An unidentified sitter may be somewhere…..
Here is info for about Geo Preston which refers to JJ.
