(1791-1860), Soldier and Conservative politician; MP for Chichester

Regency Portraits Catalogue Entry

Sitter in 29 portraits
When still Lord March he served as a very young officer on Wellington's staff. The duke valued his work and described him as 'the best fellow I ever saw '. March, like Fitzroy Somerset, was bright, energetic and aristocratic, a fine example of the gilded youths who adorned the duke's military family. March's parents, the 4th duke and duchess of Richmond, gave the famous ball in Brussels three days before the battle of Waterloo.
