Author and journalist. Started his career working for the Times Literary Supplement and the New Statesman. Amongst his publications were novels, short stories and essays, including The Rachel Papers (1973), Money (1984), London Fields (1989), Time's Arrow (1991) and The Information (1995). His novel Yellow Dog was short-listed for the 2003 Booker Prize.
