There are three portraits in Dorset County Museum (and on Arts UK) attributed to "British School C18th". The Museum know nothing more. The portraits are of the Warne family.(James, Stephen White and Ann). James Warne's Day Book (held by DRO) has this entry relating to 30th May 1785 : "Cantlo Bestland was the son of the late Cantlo Bestland of Sturminster Marshall Dorset...He came to Ansty 18th October 1784 and began [my portrait]the same day and finished my wife's the 23rd following,as they were drawn at the request and expense (sic) of my son ...". My doubts about the link arise only from the fact that he talks about Cantlo taking a pencil and "drawing" (rather than saying "painting"). I see that the Hutchins on your site is signed Cantlo not Charles. No doubt you can access these pictures as easily as I. I would love to know whether they can be attributed to Cantlo Bestland.
