Edward Penstone was born in the Autumn of 1848 in Chelsea, the son of John Jewel Penstone, artist. In 1850 the family moved to Stanford in the Vale, Oxfordshire. Edward died in 1916. I have a pastoral water colour of his of a church with a square tower, sheep and a courting couple. I now realise that the church is that of St Denys, Stanford in the Vale, probably painted in the 1870's
