Artist of 2 portraits
Richard Samuel, portrait painter, entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1770. He showed five works there and became assistant secretary in 1779, a post he held until his death. In 1786 Samuel published a short pamphlet Remarks on the Utility of Drawing and Painting.
