Wilhelm Trautschold

Wilhelm Trautschold was a German painter and printmaker. He trained at the Berlin Akademie der Kunste and in Dusseldorf. Trautschold established a reputation as a prolific portrait painter, although he also produced genre pieces and animal paintings. In 1851 he went to Italy, visiting Rome and Florence before returning to Germany. After living for a while in Berlin, in 1860 Trautschold returned to England and settled in London, occasionally visiting the Continent.
