William, Frederick and Edwin Southwell were three London-born brothers. By 1861, the brothers had left the family business of piano tuners and established themselves as photographers. They opened a photographic studio on Baker Street and later also on New Bond Street. Between 1862 and 1868 they copyrighted some 276 images.
