Sir Paul Brierley Smith

Sitter in 7 portraits
Fashion designer Sir Paul Smith is renowned for his idiosyncratic take on British styling combining traditional tailoring with unexpected details such as brightly-coloured and patterned linings. Smith was introduced to fashion aged sixteen through a job at a local clothing warehouse in his hometown of Nottingham and went on to open his first shop there in 1970. Now established as one of the most eminent British designers, his collections are sold worldwide. A member of the Design Council and the Government appointed Creative Industries Taskforce, he was knighted in 2000.
