It seems quite likely that this is William Rene Redivivus Oliver de Lorncourt, the "Marquis de Leuville", a Victorian-era poet, adventurer, and self-promoter.

He was indeed the "Marquis de Leuville". He was my GGG Uncle. He kept this quiet but he was in fact the son of William and Emma Sophia Oliver, the watercolour artists. There is a very entertaining book that was written about him a few years ago called "The Marquis of Leuville - A Victorian Fraud ?". We have in our family a portrait of William Redivivus in oil (plus ones of his mother and sister) and other paintings, books and rings handed down to us as he had no children of his own. His mother's portrait is also in your collection and some of his fathers work use to hang next to the Turners in the V&A.
