Irish-born actor and director Fiona Shaw graduated from University College, Cork and trained at RADA in London. She was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company from 1985 to 1988. Shaw has been awarded Best Actress at the Olivier Awards for her roles in Electra (1989), As You Like It at the Old Vic (1989) and Machinal at the National Theatre (1993). Television work includes Persuasion (1994), The Waste Land (1995) and Gormenghast (2000) and film work includes The Black Dahlia (2006), The Tree of Life (2011) and the Harry Potter series of films (2002-10), in which she plays Harry's Aunt Petunia. Shaw made her directorial debut at the English National Opera in 2008 with Riders to the Sea by Vaughan Williams.
