Matt Perry, I would love to see the photograph you have hanging in your garage. Can't guarantee that I would know the person however, but am intrigued.

Diane Haines. Not that I know of. Our family seems to be more down south but there has been mention of Market Harborough.

Genny Haines, if you’re still following this, I have a picture that has been hanging in my garage since I was a little kid, and nobody knows why, but I believe it to be taken by your grandfather! Was hoping you could possibly get in touch I can send you a picture of the portrait in hopes you might have some insight as to the subject is!

Did Reginald have any family connections to the North East? My fathers ancestors came from Middlesbrough, Lincolnshire and Hull.

Reginald James William Haines was my grandfather and we have numerous photographs of him. He was born in 1872 and had a studio in Southampton Row (4). He was particularly good at portraiture and his sitters always said how at ease Reginald Haines made them feel when taking their photographs. Unfortunately his studio with the majority of his negatives was destroyed in the Blitz. I'd be very happy to provide you with a short biography and pictures if you'd like.

Hello!
I stumbled upon an article published in the Pall Mall Magazine from July 1911 about "Exodus" to Canada (Emigration), and the article is illustrated by multiple photographs taken on board an emigrant ship bound for Canada by Reginald Haines. Would your family have any photos or negatives taken on board steamships at that time?
