One of Britain's most eminent lawyers, Kennedy has practised criminal law for over forty years, acting in prominent cases such as the Brighton bombing trial and Guildford Four appeal. An authority on violence against women and children, she has worked to reform the legal profession's attitude to gender equality and minority access. In 1987, she created the television series Blind Justice and presented Heart of the Matter. Her publications include the award-winning Eve was Framed and Just Law. A Queen's Counsel since 1991, she was created a life peer in 1997. She is currently the Chair of Justice and co-Chair of the International Bar Association's Human Rights Institute and Principal of Mansfield College, Oxford.
