Enriqueta Frankfort

(1910-2006), Art historian

Art historian. Fellow of University College London and Honorary Fellow of the Warburg Institute. Studied Art History and Modern Languages at UCL . Researched Goya and the influence of Carravagio on Spanish art in Spain in the 1930s. Began career in the Warburg Institute during the Second World War, later becoming the Curator of the Photographic Collection. Publications include Velásquez (1982) and Goya (1969). Awarded two major Spanish honours; the Gold Medal for Merit in the Arts and the Grand Cross of the Order of Isabel the Catholic Monarch (2002).
