Gok Wan

(1974-), Fashion consultant and presenter

Sitter in 1 portrait
Born in Leicester, the son of a Chinese father and British mother, Gok Wan was bullied and marginalised throughout his youth for being obese and gay. At his heaviest weight, 21 stones, he resolved to reinvent himself, losing 10 stones in 9 months. Wan studied at London's Central School of Speech and Drama, originally intending to become an actor but found that he was more drawn to hair, makeup and style. A regular on TV, he is best known for his Channel 4 makeover show How to Look Good Naked in which individuals are taught to love their bodies and become more body confident. He also hosted the popular TV show Gok's Fashion Fix and explores his heritage in Gok Cooks Chinese.
